Being a fan of the Big Picture Classes I was already aware
of Happy Mail. I had a similar philosophy of 'random acts'. In essence this is
when you send someone something with no particular reason to cheer them up. I
try to make sure I do this for the people im closest too, mainly my mum and
nanna. Every once in a while I will send them a thank you for been wonderful
card, buy them flowers for no reason or have a little chat and really tell them
how I feel about them. I sent my nanna a thank you card the other week just
really expressing to her how grateful I was for her being there when I was
growing up. It is something I've always felt but never got around to saying.
She was surprised and appreciative which is what the goal was. I find this very
rewarding. Not only do you feel good about doing it, sharing it, but when you
see the persons response its a wonderful feeling. Happy Mail is along the same
vein but this challenge was about paying it forward. This is not a saying I
have heard in the UK but it seems to be the in phase with Americans at the
minute. The idea is that if someone does you a favour, like send you some happy
mail, rather than returning the favour back to the person you instead do a
favour for someone else. This way the love is shared round. One way people are
doing this is by sending someone a card which is blank inside. They will write
the message on a letter and tuck that inside the card, this way the card can be
reused but the sentiment is still there. It is an amazing thing that a card
that you make could go on to numerous different people who you have never met
before but will hopefully give them joy. Unfortunately I can not put my happy
mail picture on the blog at the moment as the person it if for reads the blog
so I will have to add that at a later date. Have fun.
